Tips for Paris in 4 days
Paris is best taken neighbourhood by neighbourhood: give one day to the Marais and the islands, another to Montmartre, and another to the Eiffel Tower and Trocadero. The big bottlenecks are the Louvre and the Tower: book ahead and go first thing or last. Take advantage of the fact that many museums open for free on the first Sunday of the month, and that the Luxembourg Gardens and the Tuileries cost nothing. Get around by metro, which is fast and reaches everything; a book of ten tickets pays off. To eat without overpaying, step one street back from the monuments and look for the neighbourhood bistros.
